Hello, time for another thread dedicated to discussing whatever, within the rules . Feel free to talk about anything of interest here, perhaps enjoying some coffee or a cup of tea while you're at it.
For people who have known me for some time I have some knowledge of psychology as I studied it in university along with physical sciences, and have taken an amateur interest in it. One of the most seminal moments of my education in university came when we studied evolution in first year biology class, among many fascinating concepts sex differences in reproduction fascinated me, since I figured that the biological difference is responsible for differences in behaviour. Unfortunately this is a very long discussion so due to time constraints I had to ultimately resort to copypasta! There are three sections this is the first on women’s long term mating strategies, later will be men’s long term mating strategies, and then short term mating strategies. We all heard about “stereotypes of men and women”, are they really stereotypes? I actually don’t thi...
Note: Much of this is cut and pasted from the original source. I do not have the time to rewrite all of it. I trimmed out quite a lot here, leaving the most salient points. Perhaps I will re-write it later in the future. No more of these lessons in evolutionary psychology for a while or maybe ever, these take a long time. Women want to find a mate who is likely to commit. Men who are willing to promise long-term resources, protection, and investment in children are appealing to women, so men who are willing to commit to the long term have a wider range of women from which to choose. Willing men attract desirable women because women typically desire lasting commitment, and highly desirable women are in the best position to get what they want. A third potential benefit is an increase in the odds that the ma...
