"As an African American parent, I'm insulted because I don't believe standards need to be lowered for African Americans to get into Walnut," Nelson  told local news outlet WKRC on Monday . "It was under the auspices of having more African Americans at Walnut Hills."  Nelson is  a parent of two students  at Walnut Hills High School and participates in the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) and Local School Decision Making

Why it matters: Ohio ranked third among all states for documented white supremacist events and gatherings. The big picture: The ADL's Center on Extremism identified 6,751 cases where white supremacist groups distributed "racist, antisemitic and anti-LGBTQ+" materials across the country in 2022, a 38% increase from 2021. The ADL also documented 167 white supremacist events and gatherings during the year, a 55% increase from the 108 recorded in 2021. US six-year-old who shot teacher won't be charged A six-year-old boy who shot his teacher in a primary school in the US state of Virginia is unlikely to be charged, a prosecutor has said. But authorities in the city of Newport News have yet to decide if any adult will face criminal charges in the case. Police have said the child brought the gun in his backpack to Richneck Elementary School on 6 January. Abigail Zwerner, a 25-year-old teacher, was shot in the hand and chest, but survived.
