Documentary: Modern slavery of disabled people in South Korea | Unreported World
Posted by Independent Thinker
This is a sad documentary of mentally challenged people in South Korea being used to do manual labour without pay. It is a form of modern-day slavery. Unfortunately, although Korea is a developed nation they spend the second least amount of money on the disabled for a developed nation, only behind Mexico for last place. Due to the financial burden that is placed on these people it may be the case that their master might be their best opportunity in life, otherwise they would just be homeless. Quite a tragic documentary on some of the most vulnerable people, and I usually feel sympathy for the vulnerable.
This is part of the Unreported World series with Marcel Theroux, a relative of the famous Louis Theroux, who did documentaries for the BBC.
