The World Reels from the SARS-CoV-2: The Pandemic That is Killing Thousands and Will Cause an Economic Depression
As I'm sure anyone reading this is aware the SARS coronavirus 2, also known as the novel 2019 coronavirus is wreaking havoc all over the world. Originating from Wuhan, in Hubei province in the People's Republic of China, the virus has caused over 80, 000 infections in China, and caused Wuhan among other areas to go under complete lockdown. The virus has now spread globally affecting USA, Italy, and Spain the worst. There are now more cases of coronavirus in the USA than anywhere else, at least as far as confirmed cases are concerned.
Italy has had over 9000 deaths, more than the over 3000 in China, Spain has had over 5000. The worst hit area in the USA is New York. Millions of people are losing their jobs, as people around the world are being forced to stay at home. In developing nations such as India, government aid, and relief appears to be extremely limited.
It appears as if the virus may become endemic in the world, and will be like the flu. It also appears that this will put the world into a global recession. Whether or not there will be an effective vaccine remains to be seen. At this point what will happen is unclear, however, I predict that it won't even begin to subside until the number of confirmed cases reaches at least 1 million. Will it come all the way to 10 million? Only time will tell. Hopefully, with co-operation between nations this global disaster can be tackled soon, minimizing the impact on millions of people, especially the most vulnerable.
In the developed nations some governments are offering financial aid packages to those who have lost their jobs due to the virus. I encourage those that can to apply for it, and take all basic recommended health precautions in preventing, and dealing with the virus.

UPDATE: April 22 2020:
According to worldometers the number of confirmed infections currently stands at: 2, 637, 673
and the deaths stand at 184, 217. The USA appears to be the country that is hardest hit, although it does have somewhat more extensive testing than poorer nations. The number of confirmed cases in the USA stand at about 850, 000, and the number of deaths are close to 50, 000.
Also, small businesses are starting to go out of business around the world, many of them cannot afford to keep closed for a longer period of time. The airline industry is suffering greatly, and some airlines think they will go bankrupt. Also, the price of oil has been at less than 0 for a few days due to a lack of demand. Many countries are now planning for a gradual re-opening of the economy, however, some experts fear a second wave of coronavirus.

UPDATE: July 11 2020
Possibly the last update on this. Coronavirus cases in the US have been rising over the last few weeks, people have not been social distancing, especially with all of the rioting, and protests. In places like Iran coronavirus cases seem to be increasing. According to worldometers.info the number of cases is 12,705,331, and the number of deaths is 564,459.
In Canada the virus seems to have subsided, whereas in the US, it is still quite dire. Not sure if there's any point in updating this anymore. So this may be the last update.
