Presidential Choice
My most
valued discovery from American Renaissance has been race realism. Professor J.
Philippe Rughton explains race realism in his essay, “Race, Evolution and
Behavior.” You can find it here:

One can be a
white nationalist and a race realist. They are distinct. White nationalism is a
movement. Race realism is a number of testable hypotheses.
I have known
too many non whites I liked, and too many whites I did not like to be a white
nationalist. At the same time, I retain my commitment to the socialist – labor
left of Michael Harrington and Walter Reuther from my youth as an anti war
activist during the War in Vietnam. The economic concerns of the white working
class are my concerns.
During the
late 1960’s the Democrat Party abandoned the white working class in order to
help blacks. What have Republicans done for white blue collar workers? During
the Reagan administration the number of factory jobs began to decline from
their height during the administration of President Carter.
Beginning
with the Reagan administration the rich paid lower taxes on bigger incomes,
while after tax incomes for most Americans stagnated or declined.
President Reagan pioneered the tactic of appealing to the social concerns of whites who are not rich in order to make the rich richer. President Trump has mastered the technique.
Every now
and then his impulsiveness gets the better of him.
In his
February 5, 2019 State of the Union Address President Trump left his prepared
text to say, “I want legal immigration in the largest number ever.”

There is not
a lot of difference between this and Joe Biden’s commitment to:
“Welcome
immigrants in our communities.”

Reducing
illegal immigration by increasing legal immigration is somewhat like reducing
the crime rate by decriminalizing mugging. The Immigration Reform Act of 1965
is a major cause of the growing income divide. By applying for jobs immigrants
enable employers to lower wages. By applying for places to live immigrants
enable landlords to raise rents. In the process, immigrants raise the profits
of the employer investor classes.
It cannot be
said that the immigration policy of either political party represents the
interests of white employees who are American citizens. I agree with President
Trump that we need to reduce illegal immigration. There are ways to do this
that are less expensive and less environmentally destructive than building
Trump’s Wall. I think the emphasis should be on punishing those who rent to and
hire illegal immigrants. The Republican Party does not like that idea because
landlords and employers make up much of the Republican Donor Class.
Also, Candidate Trump’s promise that Mexco
would pay for his wall exposes him as a dishonest demagogue. The Washington
Post has reported over 18,000 lies by Donald Trump.

A promise
that deserves to be taken seriously is this one, that the President made in a
press briefing August 13, 2020, “And the payroll tax — we’ll be terminating the payroll tax after I,
hopefully, get elected.”

This will
make Social Security and Medicare unsupportable.
Two
important Republican constituencies are working class whites and retired
whites. Most white blue collar workers do not have health and retirement plans
at work. Most do not make enough money to save for retirement, or pay for
private health insurance. They need the Affordable Care Act, and they will need
Social Security and Medicare when they retire. Joe Biden will preserve Social
Security and Medicate at existing levels, as Donald Trump said he would when he
campaigned in 2016. Joe Biden will preserve the Affordable Care Act. Joe Biden
will also restore the environmental regulations President Trump has repealed.
Pollution harms all of us, including President Trump’s white blue collar and
retired supporters.
The
Republican Party has become the party of the white working class. It is not the
party for them, at least not on economic issues.
