Sunday Night at the Movies: Metropolis (2001) [Japanese Animated Science Fiction - English Dub]

Hello all, sorry for the long hiatus. I described it in another post if anyone cares to wade through that...Anyway, this is long overdue. A lot of videos are censored by google due to copyright, but there are a lot of wonderful Japanese anime films that I can post. I know a lot of you don't like that kind of stuff, but this really is a good movie the whole family can enjoy. Think of it like a darker Disney but for teenage and adult audiences.

This is a really good one in my opinion, and if anything you can just play it in the background and occasionally look at it from time to time if you like cartoons.

Description:

Metropolis (メトロポリスMetoroporisu) is a 2001 Japanese animated science fiction drama film based upon Osamu Tezuka's 1949 manga of the same name. The film was directed by Rintaro, written by Katsuhiro Otomo, and produced by Madhouse, with conceptual support from Tezuka Productions.

Humans and robots coexist in the futuristic city of Metropolis, although robots are discriminated against and segregated to the city's lower levels. A lot of Metropolis' human population are unemployed and deprived, and many people blame the robots for taking their jobs.

Anyway, a boy and his newfound human-like robot friend try to get away from the man who hired a scientist to create the girl to take over his empire and rule the world with a new weapon, and his jealous adopted son who tries to kill them. It's a sad story but the animation is top notch, and the story telling is good too. Sorry that I had to reduce the video quality, it looks WAY better in 1080p.
