Thoughts from Allure on the Ginger gene.

The Fascinating Science Behind Red Hair Dianna Mazzone     3 days ago Only 2 percent of the world's 7.7 billion humans have naturally  red hair . It's in their genes — specifically the one called MC1R. If your hair is red, your MC1R gene will have a mutation (or possibly several). These variants also affect melanin production (most redheads have freckles too).  The melanocytes in our skin produce two types of melanin: eumelanin, which manifests as brown and black pigment, and pheomelanin, which appears as red and yellow. Redheads' gene variation causes their melanocytes to produce mostly pheomelanin. But there's more to the science of redheads than what meets the eye: There's  evidence  that, due to gene variation, those with red hair may have increased levels of general pain tolerance. Some reports even say redheads smell different than the rest of us — sweeter.  While researchers have just begun to understand the science that makes redheads so specia...

From AmRen: Portland Sets New Homicide Record, Uses Traffic Barrels to Combat Drive-by Shootings

https://www.amren.com/news/2021/10/portland-sets-new-homicide-record-uses-traffic-barrels-to-combat-drive-by-shootings/   Greg Norman, Fox News, October 19, 2021 The number of homicides in  Portland  has now surpassed its previous annual record of 66, set in 1987 – and there are still more than two months to go in the calendar year. As of Tuesday, Oregon’s largest city has recorded 67 killings so far this year, three-quarters of which have been carried out by firearms, according to the Associated Press. The total number of shootings – around 1,000 – has also left an additional 314 people injured. {snip} The Pacific Northwest city is now implementing novel solutions aimed at improving safety, including adding traffic barrels to prevent drive-by shootings and suspending minor traffic stops so officers can focus on immediate threats. Police say many shootings are linked to gangs, fights and retaliation killings, but they are also affecting bystanders. {snip} Nation...

Trouble in the Land of Happiness: The Ethnic Cleansing of Nepali People in Bhutan (Documentary 1994)

Image
Some of you may remember that I made a post about a country in the Himalayas called Bhutan, which is between China and India and a hard to access Buddhist kingdom, that prides itself on the national Happiness Index.  Well, a less "happy" aspect of this is that there is an ethnic Nepali (South Asian) minority living there and the ethnic Bhutanese have been trying to ethnically cleanse them from the land. Have we ever heard of this before? I've seen another documentary on this, though I can't find it now. But for now this is all I can find. Enjoy learning about the wonders of diversity from around the world! Keeping themselves in power? What did she expect? They are right though if they don't reproduce, and maintain their culture, and seat in power they will be displaced by a different people. They are maintaining themselves this is what evolution programmed them to do. The conflict is unfortunate but this usually happens wherever diversity manifests itself.  If ...

Women in the military share their stories of being raped - being there with aggressive men wasn't a great idea

Image
Aside from the physical aspect of combat they are expected to do, and generally being weaker than men, there's also the problem for women of men (especially of the cruder, more aggressive type) being men. It is unfortunate that these women were raped, but did they not expect this at all? Did they also not expect abuses of power to take place?  They are in the military with typically lower IQ, and/or more aggressive men. Is it really a good idea to go there to live with them where you will be a sexual commodity?   I hope that these women and others like them will see that not all men are "nice" and in fact can be quite dangerous in terms of violence. There's a reason that many years ago the sexes were generally separated in living quarters, college dorms, for example.  It seems like in terms of human nature our understanding has jumped backwards instead of forwards. Will society ever regain old wisdoms again?

You've probably seen this already?

Folow Walmart CRT Training Encourages Employees to Accept That ‘White Is Not Right’ Brittany Bernstein     1 day ago   Whistleblower documents obtained by  City Journal ’ s Christopher Rufo reveal that Walmart first launched the program, which is based on the core principles of critical race theory, in 2018 in partnership with the Racial Equity Institute. The company has made the program mandatory for executives, while it is recommended for hourly-wage workers. Rufo calls out Walmart over its hypocrisy, noting that its whole nine-member top executive leadership, except technology chief Suresh Kumar, is white. Walmart confirmed to Rufo that it has “engaged REI for a number of training sessions since 2018” and has “found these sessions to be thought provoking and constructive.”  The training claims that the U.S. is a “white supremacy system,” created by white Europeans “for the purpose of assigning and maintaining white skin access to power and privilege,” ...

Miscegenation, and Demographics Change in Canada: a Firsthand Look

https://www.macleans.ca/society/there-is-no-better-index-of-racial-and-cultural-integration-than-mixed-unions-and-canada-is-leading-the-pack/ Editorial: Canada is leading the pack in mixed unions Why we're setting the global standard for multicultural acceptance and integration "Mixed unions are no longer unusual, nor an excuse for cultural conflict or bigotry; today, they’ve become a commonplace feature of life as it is lived in Canada. As such, we’re setting the global standard for multicultural acceptance and integration." According to the most recent National Household Survey, there were more than 360,000 mixed-race couples, either married or common-law, in Canada in 2011. This comprises 4.6 per cent of all couples in private households. While still a small share of the country’s nearly eight million couples, the rate of growth for mixed unions is accelerating—having leapt from 3.1 per cent in the 2001 census and 2.6 percent in 1991. In the past five years alone, the ...
